Mazda Shinari Concept on Show

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Mazda has unveiled the Shinari, a new four-door coupe concept, at a private press event held in Milan. The car indicates the future design direction for the Japanese brand. “Kodo”, Japanese for soul of motion, is the nickname that Mazda has given the new design language.

This is the successor of “Nagare” styling theme, which stood for “flow”. The design language was created through a collaboration involving Mazda’s design studios in Germany, the United States and Japan.

The car shows the future face of Mazda’s family of vehicles, an aluminum signature wing, as well as the overall styling trend for future production models.

BMW M5F10 Spy Pictures Appear Online

Monday, August 30th, 2010

We have been hearing much about the BMW M5F10 of late, and the latest is that a few spy pictures have been posted online.  The credit goes to WCF, who has caught hold of a series of pictures of the upcoming car from the BMW stables.

One interesting aspect about these pictures is that one of them is a shot of the interiors caught on cam for the first time.

The BMW M5F10 is likely to be offered with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 from the X5 M / X6 M. What we get to learn is that it will be tuned to produce up to 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) instead of 547 hp (408 kW / 555 PS).

Going by the pictures, the car will sport a key fob perched in the space on the center console, between the two cup holders.  BMW is likely to bring the car for show at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, where it will make its debut. More pictures below:

BMW 1-Series M Coupe Teaser Video Out Now

Monday, August 30th, 2010

BMW has released another teaser video of the 1-Series M Coupe. Earlier this month BMW had released a cockpit video of the 1-Series M Coupe driving around the Ascari race track in Spain. It was reported that the car will be unveiled in December, before its world premiere at the 2011 North American International Auto Show.

Features that we can clearly make out from the latest video are the new wheels with that typical BBS-like design, quad exhaust tailpipes typical of modern BMW M cars, and of course the car also gets its own M styling.

As previous reports suggest, power will likely be provided by a twin-turbo N54 inline-six with at least 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp). It will be mated exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox, which should allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds.

Sail over Cars, Race Past the Maddening Traffic; China’s 3D Express Coach Might Let You Do That

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Ever dreamt of sailing over those long lines of cars on the highway? You may soon get to see something of that sort happening in China! The Communist nation is planning a huge bus that can drive over cars. Take a look at the picture below to see what it would look like.

The idea has taken birth at the Shenzhen Huashi Future Car-Parking Equipment Company. The so called 3D Express Coach is expected to be completed by the end of next year. More pictures below:

The awesome bus will travel on rails and straddles two lanes of traffic, allowing cars to drive 15 feet below where its passengers are seated. It will hold 1,200 people and travel up to 50 miles per hour.

Its $7.5 million price tag is roughly one-tenth of what it costs to build a subway of the same length. The gigantic bus is expected to solve Beijing’s traffic problems. But what if the idea is transplanted to some highway in South Africa? It really won’t work in South Africa. We do not want to think twice before agreeing with the friend who sent us these pictures. Check out the photo below to know what we are talking about! :)
